The Crescent Tour: Interview with Jordan Deen + Giveaways

Today begins the start of The Crescent Relaunch Week! The relaunch is to celebrate the newly edited, second edition of The Crescent and the release of the final book Full Moon the end of this year.

And I was lucky enough to have the author of The Crescent for an interview.

[May] Hello Jordan, when did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
[Jordan] I’ve been writing on and off since I was little. I remember being six or seven and wanting to be a song writer. I wrote this song about a bad boyfriend when I was eight. Obviously, nothing came out of that (it would’ve been a really bad song anyway), but it helped me realize that I loved seeing my own words on paper.
[May] Do you have a routine that you use to get into the right frame of mind to write?
[Jordan] Its very weird, but I usually get my ‘mojo’ to write when it’s time to start calming down for the night. I’ll lay in bed for hours with ideas twisting and turning in my head until it’s to the point that I can’t take it anymore and I’ll end up at my computer writing out whatever it is that needs to be done.

[May] Where do you get your ideas or inspiration for your characters?
[Jordan] I get inspiration everywhere: in interacting with people at the store, at my son’s school, in my friends, absolutely everywhere. My mind is always going and I’m always on the lookout to tell a great story.
[May] What do you like to do when you are not writing?
[Jordan] I love spending time with my seven year old. He is a huge inspiration in my writing. I want him to see he can do anything he puts his mind to. I also want him to learn to appreciate and understand the importance of hard work to make your goals.

[May] What books have most influenced your life?
[Jordan] Growing up, my parents never believed in censoring the books that I could read. So, at a young age I started reading Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King. Even now, I have a hard time not writing things that are twisted and dark. My mind tends to lean towards the dark side of things.

[May] Thank you so much Jordan for stopping by!
