Review♥Giveaway: Arson by Estevan Vega

Book description:
ARSON is the first book in a Young Adult Paranormal series. Book two, ASHES, is also available now.

ARSON GABLE FEELS LIKE A FREAK. HE CAN CREATE FIRE. HE NEVER ASKED FOR IT. HE NEVER WANTED IT. BUT HE CAN'T SHUT IT OFF.

Before now, three things were true: he both loved and despised his grandmother; his life was going nowhere; and he was alone. But when a strange girl--who feels more normal behind a mask than inside her own skin--moves in next door, Arson hopes to find something he's never had: purpose. After years of living in fear, he will be forced to confront his haunting past and embrace the unknown as he walks the fine line between boy and monster. Edgy, realistic, and breathtaking, Arson, the chilling chronicle of an isolated teenager with unimaginable ability, is set to ignite the hearts and minds of a new generation.

Review:
Oh. My. Goodness. Hello! I was soooo excited about reading this book. I mean just read the  synopsis! Okay let's talk about the characters. Okay Arson (love the name!). He is your loner, with a weird family background and a special power. He contained a lot of emotions and complexity in him. Emery (love the name too!) is a masked girl. She is such a character. Of course I knew from the beginning that the mask serves a purpose but even when I read the reason, I still felt a lot of emotions. Both of them felt so real. Both characters were more mature than their adult counterparts.I think Estevan did a great job making characters that were so easy to hate. Arson's grandmother is weiiiird and MEAN! And I shall leave it at that. Emery's mother was so mean too! They both really provoked emotions in me.
Okay, I have to mention how this book doesn't have a lot of description (which I love because it frees my imagination a little.) The writing was beautiful, and lyrical. There were a lot of fabulous metaphors.
I think the only problem was that the story was quite slow in the beginning. It reminded me of how Circus Summer by Kailin Gow was written. The author took a lot of time introducing and developing the main characters that I got a little bored. This is especially tortuous because there is a mystery I want to know. The end of the book, well, I was hardly breathing. There were parts that had tons of tension. This book really created the suspense and horror. I will definitely be reading the second book soon.
