Review: The Chocolate Thief by Laura Florand

Paris
Breathtakingly beautiful, the City of Light seduces the senses, its cobbled streets thrumming with possibility. For American Cade Corey, it’s a dream come true, if only she can get one infuriating French chocolatier to sign on the dotted line…

Chocolate

Melting, yielding yet firm, exotic, its secrets are intimately known to Sylvain Marquis. But turn them over to a brash American waving a fistful of dollars? Jamais. Not unless there’s something much more delectable on the table…

Stolen Pleasure

Whether confections taken from a locked shop or kisses in the dark, is there anything sweeter?

An ARC was provided by the wonderful Kensington Books for an honest review. Thanks guys!

Review:

YAY for third person limited point of view! My favourite! :)

I adore how Cade and Sylvain have this love-hate relationship! The sass Sylvain demonstrated was incredible! The mind games between the two are so...fierce and manipulative but also intimate. The tension between Cade and Sylvain...*shivers* Damn, Cade is strong! Sylvain tried to intimidate Cade (man I would had bolted fro Paris and took the first flight out of there). So many situations where you need gut to stay in. I might not make sense now but when to read the book, you will see. These situation create fear, but also excitement in me. Very enjoyable! The smart, and tensed conversations between Cade and Sylvan can cut though mountains. Wow! But as a reader, you can see more of the connections and intimacy between the two.

The writing is delicious! Chocolate is a woman's desire! Paris is beautiful! *twirl* I know Parisians can be a little snobbish, but heck, Paris is still Paris! This book definitely takes you on a ride. It felt like I was traveling with Cade through her adventure in Paris and in love.

The food! Yum! I might suggest not to read this book when you are hungry. Wow!

Cade's grandfather is the master troll! He makes me laugh so hard!

At first I can see this book becoming a small indie movie or you know those online short shows (almost like college humor or the little movie Michelle Pham does on YouTube but of course more than 10 minutes). I think it can be very cute. But as I read about 60% of the book, I realized a short film won't be enough. A full film must be made out of this book.

The tension, the friction, the emotion between the two just break me. I get frustrated (in a good way) about the ups and downs of their relationship. Their relationship is not a complex one, almost a typical romantic comedy one (minus the comedy of course), but I felt so involved with it that it made my emotions go into a frenzy. This book has converted me into liking contemporary/romance novels.
