Review:
When I first heard of this book I was SUPPPPERRR excited for it. I mean I answered tons of Formspring questions about most anticipating read with Glitch as my answer. But when people started reviewing, eeks! I found out that tons of people hated the book. Well want to see how I felt for the book? Let's see.
The book started out very 1984 like. I see the gray uniforms and other colour clothing etc. There are public announcements and other stuff that immediately made me think of 1984.
I found that Glitch had a great start. I think the thing I loved the most about Glitch was the technologies. The system Glitch uses reminds me of Iron Man's suit or H+'s intercom. Oh for those that doesn't know H+, I really recommend you watching it. I shall provide you a link to the YouTube channel to watch the first six episodes. :)
I liked the world building. The underground must have been some super awesome sci-fi epicness. I really wanted to see. And yes, I am a fan of subways (not the fast food restaurant) so I really wanted to live there minus the "mind control". In Glitch, the corporations took control and that really reminded me of Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake. Watch out for those corporations!
Okay, the thing about dystopian novels is that the plot is always predictable. I really don't think many dystopian novels can surprise me. I like that is one reason I haven't read a lot of dystopian novels lately. Glitch like other dystopian novels is predictable. But the plot I think moves at a good pace.
The way Zoel acts in the beginning trying to fake the control reminds me of Tris faking the mind control. Zoel changes her dialogue from normal to technical depending if she is Linked or not. The way the Linked people talked reminded me of Sheldon. Nerdy! :D
I don't know how I feel about Zoel. Sometimes I love her sometimes I hate her. Comments such as "Fell in love?...Love makes you fall?" really makes me love her. Once again it reminds me of Castiel. The clueless creature that is just so adorable to watch/read. At times Zoel can get annoying. I will talk about Zoel along with all the others. I can't really separate her without talking about the others. :)
Okay let's talk about Adrien. First thing, what is with the name Adrien or Adrian etc. I have seen so many characters called that. What is this rage for the name? Okay name let's really start talking about Adrien.
First and foremost I have to get this out.The way Adrien said the codes just *swoon* I mean Robin? Is that you?

So here is the thing about Glitch. Normally I am the one that is complaining about insta-love and such while others don't find it insta-love, but Glitch didn't feel insta-love like. O_O Surprising eh?
I mean I really actually didn't mind reading the connection between Adrien and Zoel. It is quite good that Adrien is teaching Zoel about emotions and feelings. It doesn't sound insta-love like (even though it totally is). I find it sweet. Maybe because I had been watching the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke develop that I have a weak spot for something like this but they way Adrien didn't want Zoel to forget him just...aw! I like it! I like Zoel and Adrien together! I mean they are not my OTP but I really think they are cute together.
Okay, but here is the thing. Love triangle. Stupid god damn love triangles! Really I didn't feel anything between Max and Zoel. Max is aggressive, selfish, shameful SOB. And here comes the part where I said Zoel can be annoying. So Zoel feels bad about rejecting Max, who I said is a SOB. I mean seriously!
On the other hand, I don't hate Zoel for the fact how she is not your "strong female lead." I am so sick of "strong" female leads that suppose to be strong but instead acts like weak girlies who need strong males to help. UGH. Piss. Me. Off. At least Zoel is described as a weak character. She is not the strongest girl but for some reason I like her more than "the supposedly strong character like the famous Katpiss" (Oh I Katniss fans want to throw me into the Game). I think a lot of readers don't like Zoel because she is afraid, confused, and she panics. She relies on Adrien because she feels lost. So what? Wouldn't you when you are in her shoes? Characters like Zoel to be is more likable and more realistic than characters like Katniss.
I do dislike how Heather and most YA authors like to over describe how gorgeous the male characters are. Okay they are gorgeous! I don't need a whole two pages describe his eyelashes, hair, his eyes blah blah blah.
Overall, I don't really see how people can hate this book so much. I mean it definitely didn't deliver on some parts but oh well people think differently right? :)

- I played the piccolo in my high school marching band.
- I paint a little, but for some reason, only in winter.
- So, the last name, I know it looks like Anastasia, but it has a U on the end: Anastasiu (rhymes with 'so-nice-to-see-you'). It's Romanian in origin.
- I like body art. Well, I like art of all kinds, but especially body art, i.e. tattoos, because it's the art you get to take with you. I figure, there's so much about the body we're given we don't have control over (hips, nose, forehead, chin, height, foot size, health), so much that we get no choice in, but hair color and ink designs? Hello world, this is me and the kinds of things I find beautiful!
- I was in a wheelchair for a year during college because of health problems. Being wheel-bound and knee-high for a year certainly changed my perspective on life (pun intended).
- Yes, I am a fan of cheesy puns.
- My favorite book is East of Eden because it blew open my world when I first read it at age 20.
- I also unabashedly love Twilight. I even wrote a chapter in a forthcoming book of academic essays about how Twilight, for all its shortcomings, can also have positive implications for readers in that it provides a platform for public participation in a communal female myth. It's compulsively readable and is all about engaging our fantasy lives and letting us participate in vicarious wish fullfillment.
