Yuki Reviews: Yaki-kun to Megane-chan

The story starts with a seemingly unassuming class rep Adachi Hana who has taken an interest in the school's known delinquent, Shinagawa Daichi. Just what is her reason for following Daichi and wanting him to go on the class field trip?

Yankee-kun to megane chan is a manga by Yoshikawa Miki the creator of Yamada-kun to 7-nin majo. She also used to be an assistant to Hiro Mashima the creator of Fairy Tail. The manga includes the following genres: Action, Comedy, Romance, School life, Shounen.

They made a pretty big cameo in the Yamada-kun to 7-nin majo PV

You have your main character Daichi Shinagawa who a run off the mill delinquent, complete with the dyed hair and smoking. (He’s got no aspirations for life O___00___O)

Then you have your heroine Hana Adachi, a glasses wearing twin braided girl. You would think that she’s your typical smart honor student with that get up but how wrong you would be. She only thinks it makes her look smart. (Former delinquent named Hurricane Ada)

As most romantic comedies would have it, they eventually do fall for each other but how they do it
is the real mystery here. (Adachi is as clueless as Hikari from SA)
As the series progresses an onslaught of quirky characters for you to love and soon enough the student body council was born. *insert victory music*

Yaki-kun to Megane-chan is your normal school life manga complete with characters trying to live a fulfilling and fun life, but wait there’s more! Not only is it a comedy with a sprinkle of romance, it has action too. It’s a good representative of a shounen manga without a fantasy element. Watch them try their hardest?....to make each and everyday fun and exciting with some ass kicking of course.
This series is no stranger to swearing either.
 (That’s their signal =w=)

The art is pretty good and the action sequences were well executed but the mangaka's real talent is drawing the straight man face towards all the random that happens.

Overall I thought this manga was friggin hilarious and thoroughly entertaining to read. The characters are unique and lovable too. It has it's spoonfuls of drama here and there for plot development but most of it is pretty whimsical. I'd say it was time well spent.

You can read the series on mangafox.me, it is completed with 23 volumes.
Yankee-kun to megane chan has a Japanese drama adaption with 10 episode. It's pretty different from the manga but I still recommend you see the first episode. It's pretty funny and you can watch it online on chia-anime.com.
There's also a Fairy Tail manga cross over as well on mangafox.me
