Captivated by her, he must decide between the life he has and the
one he'd forgotten.
'Finding Summerland' is like
'Twilight' in the sense that it is a supernatural, coming of age romance—but
has a genre bending, metaphysical element and a much deeper rabbit hole. Follow
the journey of two star crossed souls as they explore who they are and the ties
that bind them. Enter a world intentionally forgotten. A place buried by
history, where only the chosen are aware of its existence. A place covenants
are made and broken, where myth leads to truth and forbidden love threatens to
destroy or be destroyed, becoming just another casualty in their shadow war.
The introductory novel in a series of five, called 'The Ameryn Chronicles'—but
compelling enough to stand alone—'Finding Summerland' is sure to be savored by
anyone craving to stretch the bounds of ordinary imagination, edgy enough to
engage readers who enjoy unraveling a mystery, and sweet enough to grab onto
the hearts of the romance lovers! Where legends breathe and dreams are alive. A
'trippy' journey to a new reality.
Character Profiles:
Wesley Rochester:
Born into privilege, Wesley Rochester is
misunderstood and never quite fit in. He struggles with what is expected of
him, from his high society family, while secretly seeking out the truth of what
makes him different. Under constant public scrutiny, Wesley tries
playing the role he was intended to play. A misfit in school, both socially and
academically, he is overshadowed by his popular, older brother Channing. He
spends most of his time alone with
his guitar, or hanging out with his
outgoing, playboy, buddy Wyatt. When Channing disappears mysteriously,
attention is thrust upon Wesley that he isn't prepared for. He's all but given
up, when a strange girl, named Olivia, enters his life. Falling for her almost
instantly, Wesley's never cared for anyone like he cares for Olivia. Together
they embark on a journey of self discovery that neither planned, or could have
ever imagined.
Channing Rochester:
High school football star, popular,
handsome, and rich, it seemed Channing Rochester had it all. Girls fantasized
about being with him, and every guy wanted to be him, or at least in his
circle. The oldest of the Rochester children, he is poised to walk in his
father's footsteps. Close to his brother Wesley, who is only a grade behind
him, he does his best to help Wes 'fit in'
and has always been loyal to him. A media darling and savvy speaker, Channing
has no trouble assimilating in the affluent company his family keeps.
Considered highly eligible, everyone wants a piece of him and Channing loves
the attention. Then, on his graduation trip, everything changes. Channing
mysteriously vanishes, immortalizing him, as questions and rumors swirl in the
high brow 'River Grove'.
Wyatt Russell:
Wesley's best friend since kindergarten,
the two could not be more different. Everyone at the high school is his friend.
A social magnet, who's dated most of the girl's in town, especially his twin
Katie's cheerleader friends, causing him some bad blood with her. The class
clown, Wyatt is also deceptively smart and cunning. Offered an opportunity to
skip a grade in school, he refused in order to stay with Wesley, choosing
instead to breeze through
his classes. Obsessed with his appearance
and partying reputation, Wyatt is more like Channing than Wesley. But despite
their obvious differences, Wyatt and Wesley are closer than brothers. Secretly
Wyatt has always idolized Wesley and wished he could be him. While Wyatt works
for his attention, it comes natural to Wesley. In their own way they balance
each other.
Katie Russell:
Twin sister to Wesley's best friend Wyatt,
Katie has always been in Wesley's life. The two were friends, but since
Channing's disappearance they've become closer. Katie's the most popular girl
in school, captain of the cheer squad, and sometimes a bit pretentious. But at
her core, the side Wesley knows better than most, she's sweet and insecure. The
friendship she shares with Wesley has been a point of contention for Wesley a
long time. The girls in her circle are enamored with him, the more they see him
with her, and the guys who want Katie, flock to Wesley as a way to get to her.
Planning on leaving town to become a celebrity after graduation, Katie's ideas
are thrown up in the air after Channing comes up missing, and she wants to
comfort Wesley. In the process she begins blurring the lines between her
affections for Channing, and her brotherly love for Wesley, clinging to him as
a substitute.
Olivia:
Olivia is searching for answers of her own
when she bumps into Wesley one night on the beach. Shy and mysterious, she's
clearly different from most other girls in town. Beautiful, but unaware of it,
Olivia is refreshing and intriguing. People gravitate to her wherever she goes,
including the stuffy socialites Wesley has to impress for his family's sake.
Home schooled, she's traveled the world and is well versed, cultured, but also
very organic. Wesley feels he's never met anyone more real than Olivia and
pulls her into his family fold, fiercely protective of her, wanting to be as
close to her as possible. She soon shares, all is not what it seems, and the
demons of her own she's trying to bury. The two have an unexplainable
connection, drawn to one another almost insatiably,
as they get closer and closer to each
other, and answers. But there's a hidden force threatening to pull Olivia back,
and the pedestal Wesley's put her on, may come crumbling down.
Mateo:
Best friend to Olivia, Mateo is athletic,
strong, and clearly in love with her. She has known him all his life and frequently
stays with his family when she's in town. Described as Olivia's 'friend Matti',
Wesley is stunned when he realizes this friend wasn't a girl. Even more unhappy
when he discovers he's an up and coming surfer, probably on his way to becoming
'the next big thing'. The two become bitter rivals as they compete for Olivia's
attention. The animosity between them growing with each encounter as Olivia
does her best to subdue their egos. Assuring Wesley that she loves him in a
different way, and that her staying with him doesn't threaten what they have.
Jealous of him, Wesley feels insecure over the closeness they share and hopes
for the day when he'll be out of the picture completely. Unfortunately, when
their worlds collide over a strange twist of fate, they may have no choice but
to become allies. At least for a while.
